🌸 Join the Fun: Fall Beginners' Night Mahjong League at FdM! 🀄

Just learned how to play mah jongg? Interested in consistent play? This league is the perfect way to build your skills while enjoying some friendly competition!

This league is ideal for players who have completed an introductory mahjong course and have been playing for about 18 months or less. If you're comfortable with the basics and ready to gain confidence through regular play, this league is for you.

📅 League Schedule

When: Wednesdays, 6:30–9:00 PM
Season: September 9, 2026 – October 21, 2026
Format: 6 weeks of league play plus a bonus Awards & Open Play Night

📋 League Highlights
✨ Play follows National Mah Jongg League rules (8 jokers, no blanks)
🀄 One match consists of one round (4 games)
🎁 Weekly raffles (must be present to win)
🥤 Refreshments and game supplies provided (please bring your 2026 NMJL card)
🔄 Players rotate seating throughout the season so everyone has the opportunity to play against each other.
🤖 Players will have have at least one opportunity during the season to play on FdM's automatic mahjong table!

🧮 Scoring Details

Each winning hand is worth the point value listed on the 2026 National Mah Jongg League Card.

➕ Bonus Points

• +10 points for picking your own Mah Jongg tile.
• +20 points for declaring Mah Jongg with no jokers in your hand.
  ⚠️ Exception: No bonus applies to hands in the Singles & Pairs group.
• +10 points to each player for a Wall Game.
  ⚠️ Players with a dead hand do not receive these points.

No Penalties for Beginners

To keep league play fun and encouraging, no penalties will be imposed during the Beginners' League.

⚠️ Incorrect Mah Jongg Calls

If Mah Jongg is called in error:

• and all three other players expose their hands:
  → All players receive 0 points.
• If one player does not expose their hand:
  → That player receives +10 points, all others receive 0 points.
• If two or more hands remain unexposed:
  → The game continues as normal

📢 Attendance Policy on Substitutes

We know everyone wants to be a part of league night, but sometimes schedules change.

If you're unable to attend a week, you do not need to find a substitute. An absent player will simply receive 0 points for that week's match.

If multiple players are absent, FdM reserves the right to reassign tables as needed to maintain four-player games whenever possible.

⚠️ Registration Information

• Space is limited.
• No refunds after registration.
• A minimum of 16 players is required for the league to run. If the minimum is not met, all registrations will be fully refunded.
