New Yorker's Old Game

It seems in vogue to trash-talk the NMJL these days. I am not on that bandwagon and am devoted to the League. I'd even go so far as to say that I am obsessed with curiously interested in the origin story of the National Mah Jongg League. Every now and again, I dig for any snippets I can find about those early days of the League. My efforts have paid off. Below is an article from the New Yorker published months after the start of the League in 1937. I love every word of this Article, and I hope you do too.
